My Pick & Winners!

This prompt is about my favorite book...and I decided to kind of do a "entry"page as I will be doing separate layout(s) of my favorite books...that one will be done, hopefully, by Friday.  It was hard for me to pick which one I liked the best- it was definitely either going to be 2 or3....I think I am going to blow one of these up and hang it up on my living room wall. Alright, ready for the winner?

The book I used in this photo is my favorite book EVER-- Twilight, of course! I am thinking about purchasing a new copy and using the old for tearing out its pages and using it on projects. The print I used is from a old French language "self taught" guide. I bought this book at the flea market I went to last weekend. I need to go on a hunt for a old vintage dictionary. I just noticed, that coincidentally, that Edward is peeking behind the first photo above from a tabloid mag. LOL Well, hello there Edward, you hot vampire, you ;0)

More to come soon. Its been HOT.AS.HELL in my house. I wished I had paid more attention to the listing when I first looked at this house. Note to self- always always look for a/c, the very first thing any time I get a new place! Unless, of course I move to the coast, where there is no need for one (Yes, I am seriously thinking of moving back to the beach- just waitingfor the right timing.) ;) I cannot wait for summer to be over.

Supplies used: SU! 12x12 Kraft cardstock, AC thickers, vintage book page, flowers, sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in: Spring mint, Coffee Shop, and Moonlight.  Silk vine-unknown, button from Etsy shop evalicious, and the fabric rip strips are from Studio Calico. Note: the inspiration and directions I got for the flowers are from http://www.aliscrap23.blogspot.com/. Here's a Lo I just finished. Loved how it turned out. Took me forever b/c I wasn't prepared with the prints, and I kept messing up on the printing. This shouldn't have taken maybe 20-30 Min at the most. Maybe not even that long if you are prepared. So, this is what symmetry is- all about balance...basically you mirror from one side to another. This is a 2 page spread, but you can do it with just 1 page. 1 large photo (11x 7.5) and 3 small (2 .5 x 2 .5) and a journal box in place of a 4th photo. Also, you can turn the design on thepage, and it will still be symmetrical. For example,  I could have either put the large photo on the bottom and the smaller photos on the top, or a different photo that was vertical on the right or left side of page 2 and the smaller photos going on the opposite side of the larger photo. Anyways, doesn't need alot of detail- Just photos + words.

My journaling reads: This is what paradise looks like. Don't you wish you were here? Snorkeling the blue waters, the golden sand, the sunshine. Relaxing with the love of my life...what could be better than this? Annini Beach- Princeville, HI March 2007.

 I used kraft paper for the background, AC vinyl letters, and AC for the strips. Simple, and clean. Loving it :)

I have been wanting to participate in the Ali Edwardschallenge for everyday living> To take photos everyday to document your life for a week. Frankly, I didn't want to remember this past week so...but here is me reading the 2nd book of the Twilight series. I've been doing alot of reading lately, going back to my 1st love- books :)

Twilight

I loooved this book by Stephenie Meyer.  I honestly did wrinkle my nose at the thought of the word "vampire", when I asked what it was about. I purchased it, thinking ok i'll give it a try...a few months later...and I don't know what the heck I was waiting for!  I am certainly not a fantasy book reader, but I do love a good love story. A modern day Romeo & Juliet - a forbidden love affair between a vampire and a mortal. Here is a description of the book:

"Softly he brushed my cheek, then held my face between his marble hands. 'Be very still,' he whispered, as if I wasn't already frozen. Slowly, never moving his eyes from mine, he leaned toward me. Then abruptly, but very gently, he rested his cold cheek against the hollow at the base of my throat."

As Shakespeare knew, love burns high when thwarted by obstacles. In Twilight, an exquisite fantasy by Stephenie Meyer, readers discover a pair of lovers who are supremely star-crossed. Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because--he's a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the novel burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous and necessarily chaste relationship.

Meyer has achieved quite a feat by making this scenario completely human and believable. She begins with a familiar YA premise (the new kid in school), and lulls us into thinking this will be just another realistic young adult novel. Bella has come to the small town of Forks on the gloomy Olympic Peninsula to be with her father. At school, she wonders about a group of five remarkably beautiful teens, who sit together in the cafeteria but never eat. As she grows to know, and then love, Edward, she learns their secret. They are all rescued vampires, part of a family headed by saintly Carlisle, who has inspired them to renounce human prey. For Edward's sake they welcome Bella, but when a roving group of tracker vampires fixates on her, the family is drawn into a desperate pursuit to protect the fragile human in their midst. The precision and delicacy of Meyer's writing lifts this wonderful novel beyond the limitations of the horror genre to a place among the best of Young Adult fiction. (Ages 12 and up)

 I am now in the middle of the 2nd book of the series "New Moon". So far, I like it, still a page turner, but waiting for 'someone' to show up (wouldn't want to spoil anything!) And, I am so very excited about the movie Twilight that is coming out on Nov. 21st. I will be there opening day, for sure.

My favorite quote from the Twilight book is:

"About three things i was absolutely positive:

First, Edward was a vampire;

These quotes were a spoiler for me, but I still love it all the same(from New Moon):

"Even more, I had never meant to love him. One thing I truly knew - knew it in the pit of my stomach, in the center of my bones, knew it from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet, knew it deep in my empty chest - was how love gave someone the power to break you.
I'd been broken beyond repair."

"Before you Bella my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars - points of light and reason. .... And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliance, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. {Sigh} What can I say? I am a hopeless romantic. :)

Jane Green

Here is a little video interview about my favorite author Jane Green click here- i just love listening to her accent and about her life :) Seriously, if you love chick lit (w/out all the fluff)- go out and get her books!! You won't be disappointed!

A good day

Today was a good day for a new book to come out...one of which I have been waiting FOREVER for it to be released. Made sure I had it on my calendar and on alert from my blackberry (like i was going to forget...) set several months ago. The book is called "The Beach House" by Jane Green...love love love this writer. Ok, so its chick lit, but you know, its not like really fluffy or cheesy like most chick lit. Her stories are more honest, real life scenarios, posh, and witty . She's British and lives here in America, and I love to read her words...both British and American...but mostly just how real and close to most people's lives. 

   

The sun was out, and I thought it would be really nice to go out to Gill's by the Bay, have the Seafood Chowder Boat (which is a yummy sourdough buttery toasted bread bowl filled with clam & bay shrimp chowder). I got lucky and snagged the last open table outside right in front of the water. Wind was blowing a little, making it a tad chilly--around here, it stays in the 70's during the summer..but today it was high 50's and I stayed semi warm with the chowder and sunshine. 

 

After lunch, as I was driving by the bay, I decided to pull over to side of the road, and look out into the water and read some more.

 I love living near the ocean..and I am going to miss being this close to it. Came home and read some more, then took a cat nap with my Husband (VERY rare these days!!).  Hope you had a great day! :)
